Our Story:

In March of 2024, proprietors Shane Brown and Barry O’Connor founded the Corkshire Butcher Company. Shane is a native of Yorkshire, England and Barry a native of Cork, Ireland. Together ‘Corkshire’ was born.

It was our passion to bring back an old timey butchers shop like we grew up with in England and Ireland. A place where you can find different cuts, a wide variety of quality meat, seafood and grocery items as well as an actual person to talk to. When designing The Salty Cod we knew that we wanted this passion to become reality and bring something different to the people of Athens and North Alabama.

We would like to think we offer something different to the community, a place where you can hand select what you want to eat, have it custom cut to your liking or even order in advance for pickup. It is our concept to offer a friendly face, cooking and preparation guidance and sell nothing but top quality produce period!
